The major function of the Executive Committee (EC) is to establish the policies and procedures which govern the StC itself and SC INBRE. 

• The EC formulated the bylaws that govern the composition and operations of the External Advisory Committee (EAC). 

• The EC advises the PI/Program Director on decisions concerning SC INBRE’s direction and programs. 

• The EC reviews the progress of DRP supported faculty at its scheduled meetings. 

• The EC establishes the thematic scientific areas for SC INBRE which represent the research expertise at the various network institutions.

SC INBRE’s EC includes the PI (who chairs the committee), the Program Coordinator, and the institutional PI from each of the participating primarily undergraduate institution (PUI) network institutions, as well as institutional PIs representing the three comprehensive research universities (CRU). The SC INBRE program manager and communications manager attend all EC meetings.

The SC INBRE EC meets quarterly. There is at least one meeting of the EC annually, typically held in conjunction with the annual EAC program review and Scientific Symposium.
