Edie Goldsmith

SC INBRE Program Director


Dr. Edie Goldsmith completed her B.S. in Biochemistry at the College of Charleston, followed by doctoral studies in the Department of Chemistry at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. After postdoctoral work in the Department of Biological Sciences at the USC, she jointed the Department of Cell Biology and Anatomy. Her research interests are in understanding the regulation of fibroblast-myofibroblast transformation in heart disease and the impact of these cells have on extracellular matrix remodeling.

Goldsmith is currently the director of the Biomedical Sciences Graduate program at the USC School of Medicine and has been involved in teaching ethics to student for over 10 years. She has been the SC INBRE Program Director since July 1, 2017.
