2018 Science Symposium

Friday, August 10, 2018

Location: Conference Center at the Capstone House, USC Campus (directions)

Check-in begins at 8:30 am

The SC INBRE Program Office has issued our annual Call for Abstracts for our 2018 Science Symposium (#2018SCINBREscience). This is our time to show off the research being done throughout our state.

Who should submit?

Those funded by SC INBRE in any manner (summer student, bioinformatics pilot project, DRP, RET, etc.), can submit an abstract for poster presentation. Faculty may have more than one abstract if they had multiple students and each student wants to do a poster.

Who can attend?

Anyone! Symposium will be open to any member of the public who choses to register. This is our chance to show off the great work produced by SC INBRE! Submit your abstract, register and encourage others to also register to attend (students, like last year, your families are invited to attend the poster session - details to come)!

What is the Science Symposium?

SC INBRE Developmental Research Project-funded faculty will give talks on their research. Students will have judged poster sessions. Symposium will also include a networking lunch – a chance for you to meet others who are performing research in the topic area you chose when you register.

NEW THIS YEAR will be a concurrent session in the morning with our Bioinformatics Pilot Project Program-funded faculty and a roundtable, best practices discussion lead by our Bioinformatics Core director, Dr. Homay Valafar. You can indicate your interest in attending this session on the registration form.

Tentative agenda is posted here.

How can you be involved?

If you are not presenting a talk or a poster, the student posters are juried and we need JUDGES! Please consider volunteering to help us out. We can never have too many judges! Please let us know if you can assist us with this vital task by checking “Yes” to the question on the registration form!
