Network Institutions: Furman University

< Back to Network Institutions page

Since 2005, Furman University has received more than $2 million in funding through SC INBRE with the primary focus on six target faculty across three disciplines (Biology, Psychology and Chemistry). The funds have been distributed across various programs to promote research and engaged learning.

In addition to faculty research support, SC INBRE also provides financial support for the Research Experience for Teachers (RET) Program. Managed from Furman University, the SC INBRE RET will enable teachers to engage in a 6-week immersion research experience at an institution in their local area. These experiences (the first for many SC teachers) expose teachers to modern research methods and allow them to link their research activities to classroom activities designed to increase their students’ knowledge and awareness of Science.
